Older works; Creature with a long belly!

This is a body suit I created that exaggerated a standard form I work with to have a large dragging belly and long neck.

I sewed the body suit and created the stomach and head with wire and papier-mâché. Embroidered and painted the face, sand and fluff in
the lower segment of the belly.

Older works; The Envious Lion

I thought I'd post some older work that I've made!
Particularly this animation I did for a class about in 2009; it's called The Envious Lion!
Below is my statement about the video. Just click the image and it will link to the video on Vimeo. Enjoy!

"In response to the emotion envy, I attempted to construct a child-like story demonstrating the self destructive consequences of one lion's envy towards the physical features of the other jungle creatures. As a result of the lion's envy, his own physical appearance becomes tainted and distorted."

Steel Diamond, assembled!

It's done!

I'm making another one this weekend. It'll be a bit larger and a different type of steel (I think it's coated in something or treated with something to make it rust less)

I used a MIG weld and 16 gauge rusted steel. Cleaned the edges a bit, should have cleaned them much more though, and then assembled it.

Detail of the weld below.

An adorable sloth!

About crystal twins!

Crystal Twins
When two separate crystals share some of the same crystal lattice points in a symmetrical manner. There are different types of twin crystals that are classified by twin law.
Contact twins, appear as mirror images.
Penetration twins, pass through each other.

Some stuff about Diamonds!

Just some notes about diamonds.

Working with steel!

It took way too long for me to get motivated, but I've finally started cutting my steel! For my first Metals project I've decided to construct two crystalline forms out of steel. Originally I was set on making spheres but I think what made me so unmotivated in the first place was trying to figure out how to weld AND how to construct a decent looking sphere out of planes. I'm much more attacted to these crystal shapes anyway.

These are my first cuts laid out!

They look like a piece of a beautiful shooting Jewish Star!!! Make a wish, ya'll!

I actually can't wait to weld them together! I think I'll MIG weld the structures. I'm a better at MIG than gas, though I still have to practice both.

Welding is like a whole new world, I think if it goes over well, It'll be something I do much more of.

Look at that RUST!!
